The Main Event of the evening presented by Mississippi Organ Recovery Agency will pit Brian “Heavy Hammer” Albin against Colby McMahan. McMahan fights out of the Dixon’s Dungeon camp. McMahan and Albin will be competing for the Psychout Promotions Light Heavy Weight title belt. The scheduled 5 round pro-fight promises to be a brawl and one that will keep the Psychout fans talking for a while to come.

The Co-Main Event presented by WJTV 12 will see the return of Jeremy Kilgore to the Psychout octagon against Daniel Watts. Kilgore fought in the very first Psychout event ever held and, since that event, has trained very hard and compiled an impressive record. Watts is a game fighter and will take the fight anywhere his opponent wants to go. This event will be fought at the 170 lbs weight bracket.

With 16 fights on the “Relentless” card for May 1st many MMA teams will be represented. There will be teams from Collins MMA, Dixon’s Dungeon, Epic MMA, Team Tournament, Pit-bull Fight Team, Wardog Fighting Systems, Madison Wrestling Academy, plus all of your other favorite teams. So Hooters and Psychout fans you can “Double D down” Saturday night April 24^th at Hooters. You can meet MMA fighters from Psychout Promotions and the gorgeous women of Hooters. Psychout Promotions will hold “RELENTLESS” on May 1, 2010 at the Wahibi Shriners Center in Byram, Ms. Fighters from all over the South will converge on the octagon to display each of the mixed martial art skills. The hardcore 14 card event opened with two up and coming MMA superstars fighting it out. This match was the first time that either of the competitors had stepped into the octagon. Northwest Rankin senior, Blake Kennedy took the second round win over Brandon Shackelford by submission 39 seconds into the 2^nd round.

Brandon “The Beast” Evans vs. Shane Easley would be awarded the MORA “Fight of the Night”  award after Evans caught Easley in a rear naked choke hold just 1:50 into the second round. A full list of amateur event results is listed below.

Unfortunately the first pro event of the evening between Tony “Babalu” Godbold and Tel Faulkner ended in a no contest after Faulkner suffered an accidental gouge to the eye. In other pro-MMA action, Cory Holder would submit to Ryan Caprari’s guillotine 3:37 into the second round.

In Co-Main event action, Brian Albin and Justin Thornton would provide the Psychout faithful with some awesome MMA action. Albin and Thornton at times stood toe to toe slugging it out and putting on a show with some great mat technique. Albin would take the win over a battered and bloodied Thornton 3:03 into the 2^nd round by ref stoppage due to multiple strikes.  Albin has to be one of the hottest MMA fighters in the South right now. He is riding a win streak that is proving that Albin is up for any challenges.

The Main Event of the evening saw John “Hollywood” Harris taking on Cody Southwood. Southwood would take the fight on less than 48 hours notice after originally scheduled competitor Juan Zapatta broke his hand during a late Thursday training session. Hollywood would win the Psychout Promotions Lightweight Title using the rear naked choke hold just 2:21 into the first round. The title was forfeited by Trey Brown due to the inability to compete to defend the title. Psychout fans should be very interested in knowing that a Brown / Hollywood Harris match is in the near future.

Matt Lord was award the Guichet Law Firm “Submission of the Night” award after he took the win over Clay Wallace just 2:01 into the first round. Lord would use the triangle choke hold to take the win. Lord was also donating all his winnings to his “Fight for Haiti” campaign. Psychout Promotions CEO Brian McGuire and CFO Forrest Welker presented Lord with a $1000 donation check from Psychout for his “Fight for Haiti” campaign.

LET’S MAKE IT PERSONAL IN 2010

Can you feel it? It is that time again. Psychout MMA is proud to announce its 2010 “Bring it On” schedule. 2009 was a phenomenal year for Psychout MMA. With attendance that was better than expected and fights that were second to none, one can only imagine what 2010 has in store for MMA fans in Central Mississippi. “We really want to thank the loyal Psychout fans that supported us in 2009,” stated Psychout CFO Forest Welker. “Even though times have been tough for a lot of people, our shows drew record crowds each time,” continued Welker.

With the tough economic times that many people in Mississippi are facing right now, Psychout has decided to move all of the 2010 events back to Wahabi Shriner’s in Byram. “We held shows at the Shriner’s for a couple of year. They are great to us and we think with the economy the way it is at this time, we need to go to a less expensive venue so tickets can be less expensive as well as concession can be more affordable,” commented Brian McGuire, Psychout CEO. “Not only will the concessions cost less, but general admission prices and VIP area seating will also be lowered, which is big in my opinion. It may mean that a person who was financially iffy about attending may be able to come experience a Psychout show,” continued McGuire. “We want our Psychout MMA fans to know that we feel the pinch also, so we want to do our part to help get through these times.”

The first event of 2010 will be held on February 27. Headlining the first event of 2010 will be champion Trey “Smash” Brown vs. John “Hollywood” Harris. The two guys are going to “Bring it On”. Hollywood Harris showed his explosiveness with his quick dispatch of Babalu at the last Psychout event. Harris knows that he will have a fight on his hands with Smash Brown. Look for these two guys to be in each other’s face the entire fight. It should be a war and with these two guys, surrender is not an option. Also on the February 27th card will be Brian Albin vs. Justin Thornton. These guys are going to compete at 215lbs and should be one that the fans will not forget. Albin will be out for Team Hammer Hill revenge against Thornton. Thornton defeated Albin’s training partner, Chris Wright, at the last Psychout event. The other pro event of the night will pit Corey “Train” Holder against Ryan Capari. This will be Holder’s first lightweight fight in a few years and Capari has been training hard at Alan Belchers’s gym, Remix.

The armature fights will be great fights in their own right. Fighters from Team Wardog, Outlaw, Collins MMA and many more will be competing. “We are stoked to have a main event scheduled like this to open up 2010,” stated match maker Jay Duvall. “I can’t begin to express how proud I am of all the talented fighters we have right here in the state of Mississippi–it’s crazy,” continued Duvall. “I get calls every day from every state in the South, but the up and coming talent pool of MMA fighters from our home state will keep us booked with great fights for many years to come. When we book someone from another state, they better be on their “A” game if they are competing against a Mississippi fighter and they know it.”
