It keeps getting better.. “It” being the fights and now the venue is superb right here in Jackson, MS.
Dawn at Southern MMA said it best…
Well, Brian McGuire of PsychoutMMA brings cage MMA action to the Jackson Convention Complex. And in my opinion, it was a success!!
Tons of fans showed up. Packed house with standing room only, and not much of that.
If you haven’t been to the complex, GO! What a beautiful building!
A beautifully run night though – 15 fights on the card – expecting a late, late night to be honest, but time management was wonderful.
Bout 1: Blake Killingsworth vs Brandon Malbrough – These two young men started the night off with a bang – went into the second round after a hard fought first with Malbrough taking the victory with 1 minute on the clock with a submission.
Bout 2: Dustin Clay vs Walley Jones – They came out, fought hard and fought long – went all three rounds and made the judges do their thing. The judges gave the win to Jones.
Bout3: Nate Bassier vs Barry Lowery – With 2 minutes 1 sec on the clock in the first round, Bassier takes your win.
Bout 4: John Cox vs Anthony Mitchell – These two tangled up fast and with 1 minute 5 seconds on the clock, Mitchell was declared your winner.
Bout 5: Curtis Hill vs Geovoni Grecco – After the first two rounds filled with action, these two go into the third and with 2:05 on the clock, Hill submits giving Grecco the win.
Bout 6: Eric Rawlings vs Heath Graham – Wham and bam, Graham came out swinging and was swinging hard, taking the win TKO with 18 seconds on the clock in the first round.
Bout 7: Kyle Bullock vs Mike Hill – Bullock got Hill in a choke in the first round, Hill taps with 1:27.
Bout 8: Alex Jiminez vs Brandon Evans – Strong kicks being thrown, good punches and with 2:45 on the clock in the first round, Evans wins with a TKO.
Bout 9: Shiloh Pisarch vs Leon Garra – They almost made it to the second round, with 2:59 on the clock, Garra taps to Pisarch’s armbar.
Bout 10: Eddie Humphries vs Chris Wright – The ONLY KO of the night, and Wright lands it in 24 seconds.
Bout 11: Colby McMaham vs Hauley Tillman – McMaham takes the win with 1:17 on the clock in the first round with a rear naked choke.
Bout 12: Trey Brown vs Tim Moore – Lightweight Title Match – Brown takes the win in the first with 1:43 on the clock.
Bout 13: Darrell Wood vs Brian Albin – Pro Fight – These two came out swinging and ended up going to the ground. Albin gets Wood into a choke and Wood taps with 1:57 on the clock.
Bout 14: Kelly Leo vs Tony Godbold – Welterweight Title – Guys kept busy in the first round, but 24 seconds into the second round, Leo gets Godbold in a choke, and Godbold submits.
Your main event – Heavyweight Title – Jerry Carrol vs Wes Shivers – Many expected to see Shivers take the win with his standing punches, but he does it on the ground with a choke during the first round, 1:49 on the clock.
Way to go guys!
And go ahead and mark your calendars for May 30th – all day affair – ji jitsu tourney during the day and cage mma action at night!
Couldn’t wait for last night to get here, and now hate it is already over with!

I’ve got a question coming from left field but can someone in specfic deatil explain to mean exactly what catch wrestling is??? Is it more like Gerco Roman, Freestlye or what??? Just always been curious???
Catch wrestling is the original American Martial Art George Washington, Abe Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson and Theodore Roosvelt were catch wrestlers. Think American BJJ
CATCH AS CATCH CAN
Thanks Micah Finally was able to have someone tell me what it was. Thanks.
Great fight and Great Night. Best Martial Arts event Jackson Mississippi has ever seen. Congrats to all the Psychout Crew.
E. J. – Just to clarify a little on what Micah said… Catch originated in England (where it was called Lancashire Catch or Catch as Catch Can) and was brought to the US in the 1800′s. They developed some submissions and began calling it Catch Wrestling. Catch wrestling is arguably the ancestor of modern grappling, professional wrestling (personally not to proud of that), mixed martial arts and no-holds-barred competition. Mitsuyo Maeda competed in Catch Wrestling and was later the original teacher of the Gracie family. Some modern practitioners of Catch are Kazushi Sakuraba (from Pride), Ken and Frank Shamrock, Josh Barnett and Karo Parisyan (more known for his Judo skills though), just to name a few.
Thanks alot for the information Chuck and good luck to you in the future.
chuck is a douche just kidding man good luck the 21st man Ill be back to see you guys soon. MWC the BEST kept secret in mma training in the Jackson Area
I’ve fought for the once big time pride fighting championship promotion on a few occasions and the fights I saw at this event where spectacular and I would love to get into the ring with any of these fighters!
Shivers vs. The Snowman (Jeff Monson) Thats what I wanna see or maybe Dan Severn he fights the smaller shows..No disrespect to anyone but didnt Mongo knock Wes out? Why didnt he get the belt? And Shivers is good dont get me wrong but I have been outta the loop for a minute so would someone the 411 on that. And ALL you BIG SIP guys keep the shit rolling
You know I have never let it bother me when losers choose to talk negative about people that work hard and suceed at what they do. Ive been hearing crap like that all my life! The thing is that the computers we have these days allow cowards to voice their opinions anonymously, because they wouldnt have the balls to voice it otherwise! So just to respond to the two messages left by JOE and MICAH, not that JOE even deserves a response. But the truth is I have fought everyone that Ive been asked to fight, never refused to fight anyone! And Im sure the guys that Ive fought wouldnt appreciate you saying they cant fight either! Second, Ive never claimed to be all that, im just a guy that loves the sport, works hard and enjoys competeing, just like the rest of the guys in the sport that arent getting bad mouthed! So that tells me that JOE has got personal issues with me!! I would also be more than happy to give you a urine sample that you can have tested,( you know your whole roid comment) so you can see that hard work does pay off. You must be envious! And for Micah, you are right Mongo did catch me with a shot, which happens to the best of them. As far the belt goes our fight was in another organization and in a different weight class! So the moral of my story JOE is that the only people that get anything out of BS like you posted are the other losers that choose to anonymously post their BS opinions! And by the way they are looking for me an opponent for May if your interested! To everybody else thanks for the support and helping the sport grow to what it has become in the area!
Keep your head of up Wes.
The way I look at it, if you don’t have anybody Hating, you’re not doing something right.
Come to think of it, I need to do a better job. I need to get some more haters before summer. LOL
There will always be someone talking shit about you, no matter where you go! Trust me, we know! LOL! For the record..Mongo did KO Wes in Biloxi last November but don’t get it twisted, Wes is an awesome fighter that is tough as hell! And like he said, it can happen to anyone. Mongo & Wes were able to get past their differences and we have much respect for Wes and his team! We look forward to ’09 and fighting at some events in MS. Next we are scheduled to fight April 4th in Biloxi for fightforce. We have been in negotiations with psychout to come down and fight in May against someone from Dixon’s for the SuperHeavy Weight Title but so far nothing is set. If you would like Mongo to come back to fight in Jackson, you need to make a post and let them know!! I guess they have a hard time believing that or something! (lol) Thanks to everyone for making this sport what it is today! God Bless!
Guys I’ve been busy just now get’n to add my post.
* Brian an Jay awesome show guys! I know May 30th’s event will be even better. Let’s give the people what they wanna see “MONGO”!
**Who wants to see Brad “MONGO” Tidwell?

Is the event in May going to be at the same place? Great show, last time! Is Mongo fighting on the next show? Hell, I hope so. What is up with them not wanting him to fight??? Somebody please step up and take the challange! Man that guy is awesome and puts on a hell of a show!! Keep your head up Babalu, your time is coming man! Congrats on the win Wes!
Good job to all of the fighters! Look forward to the next one.
Mongo vs. Doo-Doo Brown for the SuperHWT Belt.
Yes, I’m raising my hand hoping that this fight comes to fruition.
It will be a good one FO SHO!!!
When Chuck norris does a push up he doesn’t lift himself up, he pushes the earth down
Wes I wasnt talking shit like I said I was wanting to know whatr the deal was with what happened like I said I had to move from there and have been out of the loop for awhile and as far it goes yes I do want to see you fight someone like Monson didnt you start out @ MWC it would be F*CKING AWSOME to see you fight one of those guys of you took it as disrespect Im sorry I just want to see it
No problem Micah! My venting wasnt directed towards you!! I was just simply answering your question. And I agree with you, I want to fight someone that will push me to be the best fighter I can be! Like I said, I just take the fights as they come, and for some reason people choose to criticize the opponents that I have the opportunity to fight! You cant make everyone happy and the critics are the last ones Im worried about pleasing. You are right I did train with MWC, and have a lot of respect for Kelly, Chuck, and the guys. And think the world of Rich Swete, who got it started! It was just a matter of me trying to find people more my size to train and spar with since that is the type of opponents I would be facing! But as you can see they are doing a great job!! Take care!
Chuck Norris is currently suing NBC claming “Law and Order” are trademark names for his left and right legs
I’ll answer that one for ya, Johnny ~
yes, May 30th – Capitol City Throwdown II will be held at the same venue – Jackson Convention Complex –
but don’t expect things to be the same – Brian’s gears are turning to make some major improvements for everyone from the front row to standing in the back to be able to hear and see all the action. First time in a new venue always leaves something to be desired, so for those of us that thought it was a FANtastic night – it’s only gonna get better!
And Jay is working hard as he always does getting things lined up ~
No problem man. I see where your coming from everyones a critic especially people who dont fight.
Chuck Norris Doesnt Sleep.. He Waits For His Next Victim…
Hey Mr. Shivers i love you man…
Babalu! You Idiot!
Chuck norris has counted to infinty……twice
A Meteor didnt kill the Dinsaurs.. Chuck Norris did
Chuck norris puts the ” Laughter ” in “Manslaughter”
Wes, I think Babalu just sucking up to get in on the peanut butter fudge!
Wes didnt you have a little nag in your shoulder awhile back? I got t-boned in dec. and my shits been kinda tender since got any suggestions?
Good one E.J. I havent heard that one. And is anyone one going to the Hattiesburg event not trying loke takeaway from psychout but can you give me some input on them..sorry is that pisses ayone off but Im aways away and Im quit fonder of the Mississippi mma scene and if anyone on here is fighting Good Luck..
bad spelling in that sorry
maybe that stuff was off the chain
Dana, send me an email at brian39218@yahoo.com we can get your guys on the May card. To the people that said you could not hear the cage announcer…… This fight you will. Like Dawne said this is a brand new venue, and it takes a time to get things figured out. Not to mention that this was the first big event event held there, they learned some things also. We (the Complex and Psychout) have new ideas….. Not saying just wait til May 30th……. Again we thank the fighters and our MMA fans. I want MONGO on this card. Premier call me lets talk. Later-B
I was wondering on the kickboxing Events Held in Jackson…Well they ever have matches where they will allow Muay thai Rules???????????
I think that stud M S Bradshaw from MWC needs to get back in there and show his skills.
hey Brian! Give me or Ronnie a buzz regarding your May 30th event.
Thanks B!
Hey Jay this is Dustin Clay how can I get a copy of my fight from the capital city throwdown?
Babalu…good fight in Houma! It was a long drive for a 1.50 second KO in the first! The Outlaws are training you well. Your ground game is getting stronger, keep it up and there will only be hell to pay for your next opponent. You fight in Hattisburg on April 30th?

What is the word on the May 30th event?
Awhile back, I would say a year or so ago, on the main page there was a photo of a guy, I think his name was Brian, and his phone number to contact him as he was giving MMA instructions at the Brandon PD center. At the time he was still with the PD and worked the night shift. I was wanting to contact him to see if he was still instructing.
Thanks,
Brad
First show was a very sucessful event for you guys. The sound system needs to be improved. It was way too loud around the ring, blasting out your highest paying ticket holders. This is a great outing for friends but due to the high sound volume it was impossible to carry on a conversation because of the LOUD MUSIC.
Do you have a web feed I can save? I searched around but cannot
