The Psychout Crew said that when they came back to the Jackson Convention Complex for Capitol City Throwdown II, things would be different – that was an understatement!
The first Throwdown was a great night of fights, but was crowded, sound was lacking in some areas and blew people out of others and the screens couldn’t be seen. The Psychout Crew listened to the fans and repaired all of that. It just keeps getting better!
Instead of half the room, it was doubled leaving plenty of room to roam and visit during intermission even with yet another packed out crowd. The screens were raised for wonderful viewing. The cage was outstanding and the fans really enjoyed the catwalk for the card girls to take their spin on the outside of the cage. The sound system was much better set up and having pre-fight interviews for the main events was a great addition! Gave much more insight of the fighters and how they viewed their upcoming matches.
The card went through many changes before getting to the final night ~ but, once again, Jay Duvall did not fail to please us with some great fights and some complete shockers!! Major kudos to the fighters that took matches in the last week or so! Couldn’t have had the night without you!
Ammy fights:
Bout 1: Clay Simmons vs Soloman Evans – Kept busy in the first, took it to the second, for 11 seconds that is. Don’t know what Simmons was told during rest but he came out at the bell for the second round and took Evans for a TKO due to strikes.
Bout 2: Gerad Briggs vs Eric Rawlings – Again, taking a win in the second round. Briggs caught Rawlings in a guillotine choke that he couldn’t escape from with 1:52 on the clock.
Bout 3: Justin Lewis vs Wally Jones – Tons of action filled 3 rounds and made the judge’s do their thing after giving everything they had in that cage. Jones takes the win and also takes Fighter of the Night.
Bout 4: Daniel Adams vs John Allen – Ground action after some stand up – and Adams catches Allen in an arm lock with 1:38 in the first round. Adams worked hard for that arm lock too – earning him the Submission of the Night.
Bout 5: Russell Smith vs Mike Hill – Some strong action was going on in that cage for 2 full rounds and 2:24 of the 3rd round. Careful training paid off, when Hill got Smith in an triangle that he couldn’t shake off – and submits giving Hill his win.
Bout 6: Brandon Evans vs Geovonni Grecco – These two have met in the cage before and always keep busy. They stood and battled for a while, then with 1:59 on the clock in the first round, Grecco makes Evans tap after catching him in an armbar of classic style.
Bout 7: Anthony Mitchell vs Jonathan Robinson – They battled standing, and then took it to the ground. Mitchell gets Robinson to tap out with a guillotine chocke. 2:04 on the clock in the first round.
Pro fights:
Bout 8: Habib Baramada vs Daniel Watts: Barmada and Watts tangled on the mat for the better part of the first round, and Baramada got himself maneuvered around to catch Watts in a guillotine choke making him submit during the first round with 2:04 on the clock.
Bout 9: Jason Goodin vs Tel Faulkner: Talk about elbow city – Goodin was throwing them left and right and caught Faulkner on the forehead giving him a nasty gash that gushed out blood – always what the crowd wants. Ref stopped the fight and called the doctor in. With 1:49 on the clock, doc said it was over giving Goodin the win.
Bout 10: Corey Holder vs Tony Godbold: Fighting is a tough sport – going in against a close friend makes it tougher. Got to leave that outside the cage, and these two did. Godbold had Holder grounded on the mat and went in with some strong punches – and Holder taps due to strikes while grabbing his rib cage. Godbold wins in 1:21 during the first round.
Co Main Event – Bout 11: Chris Wright vs Wesley Little – Man is about all I can say about these two men that went in that cage and gave their ALL! If there was a Fight of the Night for the pros, this would be my pick. Little did take the match on short notice – Wright had been training for a ground match against a heavier opponent. Wright and Little are both stand up fighters with strong rights. During first round, there were several submission opportunities but nothing would stick. They certainly kept busy and made use of the entire cage. Little breaks out of an arm lock, mounts Wright and gets busy with some ground and pound – ref stops the fight due to strikes. Little takes the win with 2:30 on the clock during the second round.
Main Event – Welterweight Title Match: Kelly Leo vs Alexander Ducksworth: Again, kudos to Ducksworth for taking the bout on short notice. Close rounds in one and two showed tons of ground action and lots of strength. Getting ready for round 3, Ducksworth couldn’t answer the bell. Leo keeps his belt safely around his waist.
Psychout’s next battles take place July 25th again at the Jackson Convention Complex and already making plans and talking about bouts! How are they going to top this show – guess we’ll have to show up to find out!
Visit psychoutmma.com to let them know your thoughts – and tell them who you want to see. Who knows – maybe they’ll let the fans pick a match! They, along with the fighters, totally appreciate each and every fan they have because without you, without US, it couldn’t happen!

Once again, Psychout MMA put on a BOMB ASS SHOW!
Ya’ll took care of the fighters as well as the fans. Good job and much props. Each show gets better and better.

Great event. The only complaint from me or any of my buddies was that beer was a little expensive. When is the next event? And where will it be held?
It’s a little off subject but…..
Go Wes Shivers, Do ya thang BOY!….The next season of TUF will be CRAZY!. Everyone tune in and support one of ours from the “Muddy Sip”.
For those of you that haven’t heard and don’t know what Hollywood is talking about :
While the controversial Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson has stolen the spotlight by joining the show’s cast, “The Ultimate Fighter 10″ will be unique for another reason: the number of additional cast members who once competed in the National Football League.
Sources close to the cast members have exclusively told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) at least four former NFL players have been selected to compete on “The Ultimate Fighter 10,” a heavyweights-only season of the UFC’s reality series that debuts Sept. 16 on Spike TV.
The list includes Marcus Jones, Matt Mitrione, Brendan Schaub and Wes Shivers.
Yep, that’s right – Psychout Heavy Weight Title Belt holder Wes Shivers is in da house!!

Babalu fights in Mandeville La. on June 26th. I would love to see him in a rematch against Leo for the title on July 25th. Come on Psychout, make it happen….
You need to get Micheal Shane Bradshaw back in the ring @185 r 205 that boy is a beast right now. Come on some body ask this boy to fight and let him smash your face r break your arm. People need to start giving Madison wrestling club some props. Good job Kelly. Contact Madison wrestling club if you want some of Micheal Shane
I agree let’s give Tony another shot @ it! He won’t make the same mistake twice.
Who has seen the KO of Tim Sylvia vs. Ray Mercer? All I can say is WOW!!!! what a right hand by Mercer. I was there and it echoed thru the hole building…. unreal…

July 25th – Wesley Little vs Brian Albin for the 205 belt – should be extremely interesting to see these two hit the cage again!!
Big Ant put it best :
When you add 2 awesome fighters, 2 cast iron jaws, 1 lightheavy title, and 2 huge hearts. You get Albin vs Little 2!!!!!
I hear Babalu will fight Jeremy Kilgore on the 25th. They have a history of battling it out when they fought as middle weights. This should be a BATTLE ! Go Babalu
Babalu also fights in Mandeville this weekend.
Is there anywhere on the internet where i can watch some of the fights?????????????
e.j. try youtube.com man!
michael
I hate to bring it up but regard’n Lyoto Machida I told everybody about a year ago look out for this guy. he’s a bad man!!!! Alot of fighters said he runs to much but its not running its smart. The hole objective is to hit and not get hit and he does that better than anyone.
He’s moved in to my top 5 already…. damn he’s good… i’ve watched all his fights and its the MACHIDA era for real!!!!!!!!!!!!
Shogun isn’t gonna make thru the 2nd round I promise ya!
wow is all I can say!
dawne, thanks for the coments on me and wesleys fight. i was heaver than i wanted cause of the barret fight and i think it hurt my cardio even though we trained very hard… but hats off to little hes a tough dude.cant wait to see him and brian at 205 !
Hey Psychout, Really enjoyed CC Throwdown II. Supported your hotel sponsors. Glad that’s available now. A lot of us were in to see Tel Faulkner fight and hate it had to be cut short like that. We’d really like to see some more of him sometime soon.
well jack how bout you step in the cage whit me and you’ll come up short too…if you call getting your head cut open by elbows comen up short then you was watching the wrong fight but I’ll fight him again if that’s what to see thanks
I ment if that’s what the fans want to see haha
Well, that’s good to know Goodin, ’cause a rematch is exactly what the fans want to see. We’ll be lookin’ for it.
Man look I’ll fight him again and win then fight you I think that’s what the fans want
hmm i still love u goodin.
Haha thanks I needed that
I want to see Hollywood Harris vs Juan Zapata. John Dixons guys always start fast and hard and so does Zapata. They’re both well rounded. That makes a perfect recipe for a good fight.

Interesting. We’d both be out for blood considering we’re both coming off of losses.
